In June 2023, Raising Gabdho Foundation (RGF) launched its new factory at Kapeeka Industrial Park, Nakaseke district. RGF is a social enterprise that offers clean cooking solutions and adoption of energy efficient products.

The new facility specialises in the production of bio-briquettes and improved cookstoves. Notably, RGF installed a carbonising unit with a smoke treatment system to effectively manage emissions resulting from the carbonising process. This development is a call to action for other manufacturers to explore viable options for mitigating air pollution resulting their manufacturing processes.

Through their engagement with the IAP, RGF has already achieved substantial progress, with their production capacity more than doubling from 60 tonnes to an impressive 180 tonnes of briquettes per month. Furthermore, ongoing expansion efforts and machinery installations are expected to boost this monthly production capacity even further to 250 tonnes.

During the launch event, RGF also introduced their Zeed Energy brand, through which they trade their products. These offerings include cooking baskets, briquettes such as honeycomb, stick and ball types, improved cook stoves, and soon-to-be-launched ethanol stoves. Interested customers can conveniently access these products through RGF’s online store at https://zeedenergy.green/.  Additionally, the products are available through a network of distributors in different markets and shops in Kampala.

Looking ahead, RGF aims to establish a robust waste collection system to secure the necessary feedstock for briquette production, expand its sales routes beyond Kampala, and develop other energy-efficient products.
