Idea

We have an elevator pitch. We want you to sign an NDA before we share our business plan. We plan to execute a proven concept in a BoP market.

Offering healthy and affordable drinks to the Ethiopian BOP population, with ingredients from local origin (soy, stevia, ginger) combined with an inclusive active street distribution system with street vendors.

Team

Our founder has the business savvy and persistence to turn ideas into a company. We can build the product. Given the time and money, we can deliver on our promises.

EthioCalabash Beverages Plc is a daughter company of Barajii Group in Belgium, a beverage company that is already active offering healthy beverages for a BOP population in West Africa for over 10 years.

Product

We have a working product or service. We have developed the product ourselves and own all of the IP for the product.

Feasibility study in Ethiopia is completed, sourcing partners have been identified, market study (focus groups and surveying and sampling is done. Currently going through the legal paperwork with Ethiopian authorities to establish company and obtain the necessary certificates.

Revenue

We have identified one or more revenue streams. We have a cash-flow prognosis. We already have revenue from paying customers.

The Barajii business model is a social profit business model that requires heavy initial start-up and transaction costs, but can demonstrate industry standard profitability in the long run. The revenue for the company is exclusively generated by the sales of its beverages in an FMCG sector. Revenues are generated through sales of the products onto the market via differendistribution channels, such as street vendors, outlet shops, own distribution network and wholesalers.

Inclusiveness

It gives farmers access to markets for local agricultural products, it creates a lot of jobs for woman and young people at the factory, since it is a 24/7 operation and requires a lot of manual work and finally it creates a multitude of jobs in the distribution and retail network, especially with LIP.

We involve low-income groups as consumers. We involve low-income groups as producers. We involve low-income groups as distributors. We involve low-income groups as employees.

In 5 years time, we prognose to offer over 10.000 new jobs of which over 60% woman, 8000 people with higher income and especially offering over 30 mio Ethiopian access to healthy and nutritious beverages. Approx 1000 ton on local agro products are needed on a yearly basis and the distribution network will consist amongst other of 300 independantly employed street vendors.
